The Best Chia Seed Jam Recipe

The Best Chia Seed Jam. Healthy and processed sugar free.

Chia seed Jam is fresh tasting and amazing as chia seeds are packed full of good fats and fiber and they keep our digestive system clean and flowing. They are a sattvic food which means they promote harmony in the mind. They are also great for supporting Ojas which is nourishing for the body and is what helps to build life energy and keep your energies flowing freely; this, in turn, is what allows you to feel an overall satisfaction of life and gives you that radiant glow! In addition, having fresh-tasting fruit in your jam just delights your overall essence! I prefer to use honey in my chia jam as my sweetener, but you can use whatever you have on hand. In Ayurveda, it is said that raw uncooked honey has a scraping effect on the body and is great for detoxification – but if heated and cooked it becomes more like sludge in the body that is very difficult to digest. This recipe requires very few ingredients and is very quick to make!

Chia Seed Jam Ingredients

2 cups of your favorite fruit (you can use fresh or frozen – I usually use frozen as I always have it on hand year-round and it creates the perfect amount of liquid)

1-2 Tbsp Lemon Juice

2 Tbsp Chia Seeds

1-2 Tbsp Honey (or sweetener of choice)

Recipe

1- In a small saucepan cook Fruit over medium heat until the fruit breaks down and becomes like syrup (approx. 5-7 min). Then mash until it is to your liking – smooth or lumpy.

2- Add Chia Seeds and Lemon and stir. Let stand about 5 minutes until it has thickened.

3- Once your fruit and chia mixture has cooled, stir in the honey and add to a jar or container and place in the fridge.

* If you are using a different sweetener you can add it during the cooking phase of the fruit.

** Once cooled, if it isn’t at your desired thickness add another teaspoon of chia seeds – stir let sit for 5 min and stir again before placing in the fridge.

*** Lasts approximately 2 weeks in the fridge and about 3 months in the freezer (thaw in the fridge prior to using).

Enjoy on toast or crackers, in your yogurt or cashew cream, or just by itself!
