Ginger Snap Recipe – Holiday Cravings

It’s that time of year where the store shelves are filled with holiday goodies, cookies, cakes, chocolates and candies which can make it so hard to resist the temptation. Below is a recipe for Ginger Snaps that are not only incredibly delicious, but they have very minimal ingredients compared to those on the store shelves!

Molasses is a well-known blood tonic and rich source of minerals and iron. Molasses is warming for the body, specifically the ayurvedic Vata constitution, and is also calming for the nervous system. Dried ginger root helps to stimulate your digestive fire and is warming for the body.

Best Ever Ginger Snaps

  • 2 Cups Flour
  • 1 Tablespoon Dried Ground Ginger
  • 1 Tablespoon Baking Powder
  • 1 Teaspoon Cinnamon
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Good Salt (sea salt or himalayan)
  • 3/4 Cup Butter
  • 1/2 Cup Coconut Sugar (or cane sugar if you don’t have coconut sugar)
  • 1 Large Egg
  • 1/4 Cup Molasses

1 – Sift all dry ingredients together – except for the sugar

2- Cream together butter, sugar, egg and molasses

3 – Combine dry and wet ingredients – mix till combined

4 – Scoop out approximately a teaspoon of cookie dough and roll into balls (optional – roll balls into a sugar and cinnamon mixture)

5- Place on baking sheet approximately 1.5 inches apart.

6- Bake 350 F for about 10 minutes. They will be soft when you take them out, so be careful when transferring them to a cooling rack.
