The Difference Between Synthetic Scents and Essential Oils

What is the difference between Essential Oils and Synthetic Scents (Fragrance)?

By steam distilling flowers, plants, herbs and leaves, and cold pressing citrus fruit peels essential oils are made. Essential oils are highly vibrational healing oils found in nature and are used for aromatherapy. They help with emotional health, spiritual health, physical and emotional pain, skin conditions and much more. In addition to their healing properties, they are well known for having antibacterial and anti-fungal properties. Essential oils have countless benefits to your overall health.

Whereas, fragrance oils (also known as synthetic fragrances) are lab made chemical cocktails made up of thousands of chemicals. Virtually every synthetic scent imaginable can be found in a fragrance oil. Fragrance oils are made through the combination of many different chemicals to produce a specific scent. Since fragrance oils are synthetic they do not have aromatherapy properties or any other health or skin benefits. Rather they tend to give people headaches and act as a skin irritant when applied topically. Don’t be deceived by the word “fragrance” or “parfume” on a label – that “one” ingredient actually consists of hundreds to thousands of toxic chemicals.
