Homemade Peanut Butter Recipe (Fermented or Regular)

Homemade Peanut Butter is incredibly easy to make and tastes better than any store-bought peanut butter.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups Peanuts, Raw and Unsalted
  • 1 Tbsp Ghee, Coconut Oil, or Olive Oil (optional)
  • 1/4 tsp Salt

Instructions:

If you would like to make the fermented version of peanut butter, you will need an extra couple of days to prepare. Add your peanuts to a jar along with some whey (leftover from yogurt-making) and top it up with water. Cover it with a lid and let it mingle and do its thing for at least 24 hours. Then strain out all the liquid and place them on a baking tray to dry them out and roast them. Follow steps 1-4 below to continue with the peanut butter recipe.

  1. Preheat your oven to 325 F. Place your raw peanuts on a baking sheet and roast them in the oven until they are nicely browned in color. Mix them around on the pan every 10-15 minutes until done. Cool a little before touching them.
  2. Place all your roasted peanuts into a Nutri-bullet, high-speed blender, or food processor (I use the Nutribullet). Add in your tablespoon of chosen oil and salt. You can skip the additional oil/fat but it helps it blend into a smoother consistency.
  3. Blend until smooth. If you need to add a little more oil/fat then feel free to add a little more.
  4. Place in a jar with a tight-fitting lid and store in your fridge. Unless you go through peanut butter really fast, you can just leave it out on the counter.

Enjoy!
